This Privacy Policy explains how BeastAtlas handles information when visitors use the website or contact the project. BeastAtlas is an independent educational wildlife website, and its current features are designed to be explored without creating an account or public profile or submitting personal details through the site.

Information BeastAtlas Currently Collects

BeastAtlas currently has no user accounts, login system, payment processing, subscriptions, comments, contact forms, advertising scripts, or advertising cookies. Visitors can read guides, explore animal profiles, and use the interactive features without directly giving BeastAtlas personal information. The site does not ask visitors to create public profiles or submit personal details through an online form. Optional Analytics is described below and does not load unless the visitor accepts it. Voluntary email communication and limited technical processing by hosting, network, and security providers are also described below.

Email Communications

Visitors who email hello@beastatlas.com voluntarily provide their email address and the information included in their message. This may include a name, question, correction, source suggestion, image concern, or other details the sender chooses to share. BeastAtlas uses this information to read, manage, and respond to the communication.

Hosting and Technical Information

Like most websites, BeastAtlas relies on hosting, network, and security providers to make pages available and protect the service. Those providers may automatically process limited technical information such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested pages, timestamps, and diagnostic or security logs. This technical processing may be needed to deliver website content, maintain reliability, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and protect the site. Such providers handle information under their own terms and privacy practices.

Google Analytics 4

BeastAtlas uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only after a visitor accepts optional Analytics. GA4 helps BeastAtlas understand broad website usage and improve educational content and performance. The GA4 property is for https://www.beastatlas.com, with Measurement ID G-51CML6VN68. The Google tag is not loaded before the visitor accepts Analytics.

After acceptance, GA4 may process information such as viewed pages, approximate location derived from IP information, browser and device information, referral source, session information, and interactions measured through GA4 Enhanced Measurement. GA4 may use cookies such as _ga and cookies beginning with _ga_. The information processed depends on factors such as the visitor's browser, device, consent choice, and GA4 configuration. BeastAtlas does not intentionally send names, email addresses, or account information to GA4. BeastAtlas does not have user accounts and does not use Google Analytics User-ID.

Google processes Analytics information under its own privacy and data-processing terms. Google Signals, advertising personalization, and connections to advertising products are not enabled by this Analytics installation. Cookies and Consent Choices

First-time visitors are shown a BeastAtlas Analytics choice before the Google tag can load. Visitors can accept or reject optional Analytics, and rejecting Analytics does not prevent access to any BeastAtlas educational content or feature. The choice is remembered in necessary local preference storage so the banner does not repeatedly appear after a decision.

The visible Cookie Settings control allows visitors to reopen the choices later, change from Reject to Accept, or withdraw a previous acceptance. Withdrawing acceptance prevents GA4 from loading on future page loads and stops future optional Analytics collection as reliably as the website can control it. BeastAtlas also removes accessible GA4 cookies when consent is withdrawn, but withdrawal does not promise deletion of information that Google may already have received. Necessary technical processing for security, page delivery, and preference storage operates separately from optional Analytics.

Consent for Relevant European Visitors

BeastAtlas requires an affirmative choice before loading non-essential Analytics. This consent approach supports the choices expected for relevant visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA) without making access to educational content depend on acceptance. Visitors can reject Analytics or withdraw acceptance at any time through Cookie Settings.

Future Advertising and Google AdSense

BeastAtlas may add advertising in the future to help support hosting, maintenance, and continued development. No Google AdSense or other advertising script is currently installed. BeastAtlas will not use a placeholder AdSense publisher ID, and an ads.txt file will be added only after the real AdSense account supplies its publisher ID.

Google AdSense, personalized advertising, non-personalized advertising, and advertising cookies remain inactive. Installing consent-controlled Analytics does not mean advertising is active. Before any future advertising is introduced, BeastAtlas will review the consent requirements that apply, including relevant requirements in the EEA, and update this Privacy Policy to describe the actual advertising and consent configuration. Advertising Choices

Visitors can review or adjust how Google uses information for advertising through Google Ads Settings. Information about choices offered by participating advertising companies is also available through AboutAds opt-out information. Browser settings may provide additional controls for blocking or deleting cookies. These external tools are operated by their respective providers, and the options available may vary by browser, device, and region.

Children's Privacy

BeastAtlas is designed to be family-friendly, but it does not knowingly request personal information from children through accounts, forms, or subscriptions because those features do not exist. Optional Analytics is intended to understand broad site usage, not to create public profiles of children. Children should ask a parent, guardian, or teacher for help before accepting optional Analytics, sending an email, or sharing personal information online. If a parent or guardian believes a child has voluntarily sent personal information by email, they may contact BeastAtlas to request a review or deletion where appropriate.

External Links

BeastAtlas may link to external websites for useful information, visitor choices, or related resources. External websites are operated independently and have their own privacy practices, security measures, and terms. BeastAtlas does not control how another website collects or uses information, so visitors should review the privacy information provided by the external service they choose to visit.

Data Retention and International Processing

Email communications and limited technical information will be retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond to messages, maintain security, meet legal obligations, resolve technical problems, or operate the website. Retention periods may vary according to the type of information, why it is needed, and the practices of the relevant hosting or security provider.

When a visitor accepts optional Analytics, Google may process and store Analytics information using infrastructure in multiple locations under Google's applicable safeguards, privacy terms, and data-processing terms. Analytics retention depends on the configured GA4 settings and Google's applicable policies.

Privacy Rights and Requests

Depending on location and circumstances, visitors may have privacy rights concerning personal information associated with an email or other identifiable communication. Visitors may contact BeastAtlas to ask a privacy question or request access, correction, or deletion where relevant. BeastAtlas may need enough information to understand the request and confirm that it concerns the person making it.

Changes to This Policy

BeastAtlas may update this Privacy Policy as the website develops, legal or operational needs change, or new services are introduced.
